Xiaomi Mi 10T series: Price in India, release date and specs

The Mi 10T series is Xiaomi’s latest flagship for 2020, bringing all high-end specs and camera capabilities to competitive price points. It is the second mainstream flagship of the year, following the Mi 10 from earlier in the year.

Xiaomi has followed a bi-annual refresh cycle for its flagships over the last few years. Even with 2020 being quite a setback, it looks like the same philosophy will be followed this year as well. It is an important product for the Chinese giant as it aims to plant its foot in the high-end smartphone market.

On September 30, Xiaomi held the global unveiling of the series. Here’s everything you need to know about the Mi 10T, the Mi 10T Pro and the Mi 10T Lite.

Cut to the chase

  • What is it? The successor to the flagship Mi 10
  • When is it out? October 15 in India
  • What will it cost? Around Rs 40,000

Xiaomi Mi 10T release date and price

Xiaomi India has now confirmed that the Mi 10T and the Mi 10T Pro will launch in India on October 15, just in time for the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale. There's no mention of the Mi 10 Lite though.

The entire Mi 10T family moves to a 6.67-inch LCD panel with a Full HD+ resolution, but does away with the curved edges. A new AdaptiveSync feature switches the refresh rates between 30Hz, 48Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz and 144Hz based on the content to balance smoothness and power consumption.

The Xiaomi Mi 10T and the Mi 10T Pro have 144Hz panels, which is the highest on any smartphone currently. Features such as MEMC, True Colour, a new Reading mode and P3 colour gamut.

They also sport a familiar glass back design with the cameras housed in a large island with the primary sensor on the top. The fingerprint sensor is embedded within the power button on the right side. The front, back and the camera are protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

All three of the Xiaomi Mi 10T phones support 5G connectivity, suggesting Xiaomi is going all-in on the next-gen connectivity.

In terms of chipsets, the Xiaomi Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro have Snapdragon 865, which was top-end at the beginning of the year but has been slightly outdated by the 865 Plus recently. RAM options include 6GB and 8GB, along with up to 256GB of storage.

They also come with large 5,000mAh batteries with support for 33W MMT charging which is claimed to charge the phone fully in an hour.

Xiaomi is shooting for the stars this time. The Mi 10T Pro has a 108MP f/1.69 primary camera, followed by a 13MP ultra-wide shooter and a 5MP macro lens. The front camera has a resolution of 20MP and resides in the top left corner of the display. The omission of a telephoto lens is disappointing.

The powerful hardware is paired with interesting shooting modes such as AI SkyScaping, Clones, long exposure, astrophotography, timed burst, dual video and others. 8K video recording is also possible.

The vanilla Mi 10T has a 64MP f/1.89 primary camera without OIS, but still gets all the other features. This is the only difference between the two variants.

Xiaomi also unveiled the mid-range Mi 10T Lite, which is the world’s first smartphone to be powered by the Snapdragon 750G chipset along with 5G capabilities. It is paired with 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage capacity.

The design is very similar to what we saw on the Poco X3 recently with four cameras in a round housing. It gets a similar 6.67-inch display but with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The battery is rated at 4,820mAh with 33W charging support, claimed to refill it in under an hour. The four cameras on the back include a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide shooter, a macro lens and a depth sensor. The 16MP selfie camera is placed in the centre of the display. Colour options include Atlantic Blue, Rose Gold Beach and Pearl Gray.
